Author's Note

This is a series of essays, many of
which are biographical, that tell just
what my life in Christ has taught me.
If you really are intent on making it to
heaven, this can help. If you are look-
ing for an easier, more comfortable, richer,
way to heaven then skip this; it won't help.
If you are interested in truth, regardless of
the ramifications, read This I Have Learned.
If you have already predetermined what the
truth must be then skip this; you won't like
it!
If you are interested in what a preacher has
to say who quit college, where he was a
Bible major, three and one half months
before he was to get his degree, then by
all means read this.
If you are interested in what a preacher has
to say, who had a unanimous vote of
confidence of the people in the pews, but
was required to resign by his superiors in the
denomination, then read this.
If you want to know what a preacher, who
was told "to set down and shut up and you
might learn something" at a Wesleyan
convention, has to say, then read This I Have
Learned.
If you are interested in what a preacher has to
say, who was told to leave that convention by
all who were there, except the chairman, then
you should like This I Have Learned. Oh, by
the way, I left.
If you want to read what a preacher, who has
been a financial failure for most of his life, has
to say then read this book.
You might think, from what I have written here,
that I don't want to sell books, and make money,
but you are wrong. I want everybody who is
interested in spiritual help and/or encouragement
to read this. As for selling the book, I need to,
just ask my creditors.
Whatever else This I Have Learned may be, it is
a book of victory. Victory over sin and all the
wiles of Satan and all by the grace of God.
Happy reading.

Jim Caniff, the grandson of Camp Meeting Bill and
SundaySchool Ellie, is an ordained minister who has
written two previous books: The Synagogue of Satan
and An Indictment. He has pastored in Indiana
and Kentucky and held revival meetings over a large
segment of the country. In his youth he was an over
the road trucker. In business he has been a painting
contractor, was an installer and repairman for large
revolving tray ovens, and worked as a licensed
private detective. He spent four years in the US
Air Force where he was a control tower operator
and spent a year in Korea and a year in Japan as
such. He received his formal education at Vincennes
University, Edison College, and Asbury College. He
is a widower and the father of two adult sons, David
and Stephen. Jim resides in Salem, Indiana where
his son, Stephen is a pastor of a local church, and
his son David, works at a major wood-working
facility.
