It is the year 22.5. John Dober one of Arth’s leading android designers stumbles across an insidious secret, a diabolical plot so merciless yet ingenious that the very foundations of Arth the Cityworld faces the greatest threat to its existence since the end of the company wars and multinational run World Government. Imagine a world without poverty, crime or natural mortality - a utopian Avalon where a man or a woman can become all they ever wish to be – a world where androids liberate mankind from their mundane daily tasks yet also provide all of the old, past deviant pleasures harmlessly to their immortal, human masters.
Can Intertell, the planetary media and industrial conglomerate which now runs the planet in conjunction with the Council of Five, an anonymous body of representatives from the largest five multinationals that formerly ruled Arth have anything to do with the dark machinations which might bring the planet’s civilization to its very knees, signaling its end after three millennia? And where does “The Hunt” Arth’s most popular Intertell Vision interactive media program factor in to the equation with its regular ceremonial execution of selfless, senior Arthian volunteers wanting to end their days for the greater good of the planet - themselves passing over to Kirt an inter-dimensional universe once known as the Bermuda Triangle? After all death does not exist…in fact it never did!
In order to save his world, John Dober, his partner Sera Soble and Dober’s closest ally, the android Saulo - find themselves pitted against Cyril Cite otherwise known as The Administrator – the front man for Intertell and the Council of Five, a decrepit-looking, omnipotent lecher with a taste for the macabre and bizarre in food and women. Will Dober succeed where so many others have tried and failed.
In a Swiftian parody which chillingly reflects the times and issues the “global village” now finds itself confronted with – These Peaceful Times challenges the very foundations of our planet’s history and multi-cultural traditions. The gargantuan challenges which John Dober must overcome resemble the very real demons mankind is face with at this very hour of our existence.
